Overpriced, poor build quality September 8, 2010 M. Helmick (Seattle, WA) The headphones have pretty good sound quality, but they didn't last me very long. And given the price, they certainly didn't last long enough. I found the build quality to be poor, and the covers on the earpieces fell off frequently, stretched out, and became unusable rather quickly (about 2 months).
Awesome for the price and comfort! September 8, 2010 Beans' Mum (Burbank, CA) I love these earphones. I have small ear canals, so regular sized ear buds would always fall out. I run 5 times a week and needed something that would stay put, and these do an awesome job. Plus, they're splash resistant, which means I can sweat a ton and it's ok, or run in the rain without having to worry about them shorting out. I've had mine for about 3 months now, sweated up a storm with them and ran through the rain with them. There was one instance where I heard a ground, but placing the earbud against a towel and tapping against it gently solved that immediately.
Many of the reviews that gave this product one star complained about the fit. I had the exact opposite experience - I love the way these fit on me. They stay put and I don't need to adjust them at all during a 7k run. They look pretty cool too and the sound quality is quite good. To play safe, keep the receipt as several reviewers have complained about them conking out after a few days. Personally, I've owned at least 6 pairs of Sennheisers and that's never happened to me (knock wood). It takes a good 2-3 years for mine to die or aesthetically degrade.
Overall, for the price they're offered on Amazon I think they're worth every penny!
Poorly made, cheap materials, in comparison to PMX70s September 7, 2010 31107 I am an owner of the Sennheiser PMX70 Sport Series headphones (the predecessor to the PMX80s, the green ones). The old version is MUCH better made than the new one, using higher quality rubber and plastic. I suggest buying the PMX70s instead, if you can find them for a similar price. Both headphones sound decent and look great and stay on very well even during rigorous exercise. Both claim to be water resistant and I have no reason to think otherwise. (Make sure you keep the rubber earbud covers on, because otherwise sweat can seep in.) Ultimately not a bad buy but I think Sennheiser shaved off some production costs and changed up the color and called it a "new model"
one month September 7, 2010 Jeffrey Markman (Norristown, PA USA) Had these for about one month. They definitely stayed on my head while working out. They were pretty uncomfortable. The biggest problem is that speaker fell out of the unit after about a month.
Not what I had hoped for September 6, 2010 E. Betzhold (Charleston, SC) I spent a lot of time looking to replace my iPod buds as they started to crap out after years of use. I am no audiophile, but I do enjoy listening to music when I run and workout, and wanted to get some better headphones for running primarily. I went for these based on the reviews here, and also on a review for the prior incarnation of these headphones (they were dubbed the "best" headphones for runners).
Perhaps I received a lemon set, but the construction of these things is terrible!! I have had them for less than 2 months, and have run just over 100 miles while using them and they are falling apart. The left earbud is coming apart, and the fat rubber cover for the end of the cord doesn't stay put making it difficult to unplug the headphones from my nano. Speaking of the cord, it's way too long. If you use the clip you are treated to a clicking sound (from the clip) on every stride. Also, if you try to do any lifting in the gym while on a bench the back of these headphones make it really annoying. I generally just took them off (hung them around my neck) when I did any bench stuff because they were too uncomfortable.
The sound quality is better than the iPod buds (what isn't?) but I found that these headphones had more wind noise than the standard iPod buds, regardless of the amount of wind.
In short, after using these almost every day for about 2 months I am going back to my crappy iPod ear buds.
